Michael first opened the doors of his butcher's shop in Malmesbury, Wiltshire in 1991. Michael and his wife Sandy have gone on to win major competitions for the artisan sausages and products they create, with an emphasis on quality. In 2010, the Malmesbury King won Britain's Best Sausage, a competition organized by Country Life Magazine. With over 300 entries from across the country, this traditional sausage was shortlisted as a finalist. Michael and Sandy traveled from Wiltshire to the London Mandarin Oriental Hotel for the finals, bringing fresh sausages for judging. The three-star Michelin Chef Daniel Boulud led a panel of eight judges who crowned The Malmesbury King the Best Sausage in Britain. More recently, the Breakfast Sausage has been voted the Champion Sausage by Taste of the West 2025, and that same year, the Wiltshire Sausage won a Gold medal.
Now joined by their son Dylan, today the Wiltshire Sausage Company continues to craft sausages traditionally by hand using outdoor-reared pork and natural casings, working with the hospitality sector in England and Wales to provide a quality sausage that any establishment would be proud to serve to their guests.
